Hambledon vs St Cross II - 23rd August 2008 - Scorecard here
Hambledon needed to win their last league fixture at Ridge Meadow to keep their promotions hopes alive. Having won the toss and elected to bat, they soon lost skipper James Scutt, bowled for 8 by Brian Lipscombe. Simon Milenko (37) and George Marshall then put on 62 for the second wicket before Matt Perry-Lewis bowled Milenko. The home side then lost three quick wickets and at 118-5 still needed a lot to do to post a decent score. However George Marshall’s 87 ball 57 and Jon Burdekin's undefeated 52 enabled Hambledon to close on 210-8.
In reply St Cross were soon in trouble losing 3 quick wickets with only 23 on the board. Opening bowlers Simon Milenko (1-16) and Richard Marshall (2-21) doing the damage. The visitors never recovered and collapsed to 98 all out with Dan Hewitt (3-13) and Rhidian Chapman (3-8) polishing off the tail.

Hambledon travelled to Easton looking to make amends for their Village Knock out semi final defeat and with Easton reduced to 11-3 with Simon Milenko( 2-24) making early inroads a win looked very much on the cards. However despite slumping to 70-7, Easton managed to close on 137 thanks largely to Smith (34) and Borgell (44). Mackie Hobson (2-24), Dan Hewitt (3-40) and Rhidian Chapman (2-14) all bowled superbly for the Dons.
Hambledon’s reply got off to the worst possible start with Milenko dismissed first ball and at 92-6 Easton looked the likely winners however an undefeated 32 from Dan Hewitt supported by Rhidian Chapman 21* saw Hambledon scrap home by one wicket. Easton’s Bolland was the main tormentor with 5-32.
Hambledon vs Tichborne Park - 7th June 2008 - Scorecard here
Tichborne, having won the toss, elected to bat but soon found themselves in trouble at 59-4 with Simon Milenko (4-26) and Mike Cowling (1-37) making early inroads. Hambledon, badly hampered by the loss of Ian Turner to a knee injury during the warm up, were unable to press home their advantage and Tichborne recovered to post a competitive 201 all out with Scott Wood (78) and Paul Primmer (41) the main contributors.
In reply, Hambledon soon lost the in-form Milenko, bowled by Allam for 12. Despite a dogged 56 from George Marshall, Hambledon were never really in the hunt and subsided to 159 all out.
NVKO Regional Semi Final - Hambledon vs Easton and Martyr Worthy - 1st June 2008
In an exciting low scoring affair at Ridge Meadow, Hambledon lost by one wkt to Easton & Martyr Worthy. Batting first Hambledon soon lost skipper James Scutt lbw to Chapland and Jon Burdekin was soon to follow bowled by the same bowler for 16.
However a stand of 65 between Richard Marshall (30) and Nick Scutt ( 38) repaired the damage and Hambledon looked likely to post a compeititive score. Unfortunately they were not able to build on this stand and despite an entertaining knock from Dan Hewitt (20) were only able to post 148 which looked a good 25 runs below par.
In reply Easton were made to fight all the way with Hewitt (2-21) and Mike Cowling (2-24) bowling excellent spells. Rhidian Chapman (4-36) whittled through the middle order but the experienced Shaun Green ( 60*) saw Easton home with 1 wicket and 5 balls to spare.
Paultons vs Hambledon - 31st May 2008 - Scorecard here
Hambledon continued their winning ways this weekend with a tight win over Paultons.
Having lost the toss, Hambledon were put into bat and suffered an early loss with James Scutt being run out in a freaky dismissal. Hambledon's innings then stuttered with the loss of both Marshall brothers, with the score only 36. However, with able assistance from Mat Jones (27) and Nick Scutt (26*) Simon Milenko took control and struck a magnificant 133 not out - featuring nine 4's and five enormous 6's. Hambledon finally closed on 221-4 from their 50 overs.
In reply, Paultons started well with James (19) and Magee (25) posting sixty for the first wicket, before Rhidian Chapman (4-44) and Dan Hewitt (3-36) made life difficult. Despite a tense finish, Paultons were eventually dismissed for 194, falling 27 runs short.
Hambledon vs Bashley Rydal II - 24th May 2008
Hambledon recorded a second win in the Southern Electric Premier League with a comfortable 107 run win against Bashley II.
Batting first, Hambledon wobbled at 60-3 with John Whiting making early in roads, however Hambledon managed to post a competitive 205 –7 with Richard Marshall (62) and Mat Jones undefeated on 67 the main contributors.
In reply Bashley were never at the races with Simon Milenko (2-23) dismissing both Maher and Childs for ducks. It was left to Dan Hewitt (4-23) and George Marshall (4-12) to mop up the rest and Bashley were dismissed for 99 off only 28 overs.
National Village Knock Out 3rd Round - Hambledon vs Amport
Hambledon met Amport in Round 3 of the National Village KO. Having won the toss, Amport soon lost Startup bowled by Marshall for 0. However White proved to be a thorn in Hambledon's side with a glorious 99 before being stumped by de Mellow off the bowling of Mat Jones agonisingly short of a fine century.Hambledon vs Fareham & Crofton - 10th May 2008 - Scorecard here
Batting first, Hambledon were soon in trouble having lost both openers with only fourteen on the board. However, a 121 partnership between Simon Milenko (91) and Richard Marshall (64) enabled Hambledon to regain control. Following Milenko’s dismissal of only seventy balls, Hambledon managed to close on a healthy 276 with Mackie Hobson undefeated on 24.
Fareham & Crofton responded well, posting 66 for the first wicket before Hobson bowled White for 28. The introduction of ex-Hampshire spinner Ian Turner turned the tide in Hambledon’s direction. Batting first Hambledon's openers Jon Burdekin and Mark Le Clercq posted an opening stand of 55 before Le Clercq was bowled by Saunders for 12. Hambledon's innings then stuttered with the loss in quick succession of Richard Marshall and Burdekin with the score on 84.
However Dan Hewitt's arrival at the crease changed the face of the innings with a superb 45 ball 66, ably assisted by Mat Jones who weighed in with 28. This enabled Hambledon to close on 200-9 in their allotted 40 overs.
Hewitt ( 3-18) then tore into the Eversley batting line up taking 3 wickets in his first 3 overs and along with 15 year old PGS student Cam Prentice (2-11) reduced to the visitors to 16-5 - a position from which they never recovered closing on 95.
Portsmouth vs Hambledon - 3rd May 2008...Scorecard here
Having won the toss and elected to bat, Hambledon got off to flying start with Simon Milenko hitting 16 of the first 17 runs before shouldering arms off the bowling of Sariq Ali and being bowled.
Milenko's contribution was remarkably Hambledon's highest contribution as his dismissal sparked a mighty collapse. Only debutant George Marshall with 11 reached double figures as Ali ( 3-10) and Hafeez ( 5-15) tore through the Hambledon batting line up, dismissing the visitors for 77 in 24.3 overs.
In reply, Portsmouth soon lost James Moon bowled by Milenko but despite the loss of three further wickets passed Hambledon's total in the 26th over with skipper Sam Lavery unbeaten on 18.
